Convert MOV to MP4 — right in your browser

Drop a QuickTime .mov file and get a universal .mp4 that plays everywhere — phones, Discord, email, editors. It's converted on your own device, so the file is never uploaded.

Why convert MOV to MP4?

.mov is Apple's QuickTime format — great on Macs and iPhones, but plenty of apps, websites and Windows tools would rather have .mp4. Converting to MP4 (H.264) gives you a file that plays virtually anywhere, with no codec surprises.

Most converters upload your clip to a server first. VidKit doesn't — the conversion runs locally using your browser's built-in video engine, so even large recordings convert without a slow upload, and nothing is stored or logged.

Frequently asked questions

Is my .mov file uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, on your own device. There's no server that could receive the file — open your browser's Network tab while it runs and you'll see zero bytes leave.
Will the MP4 lose quality?
Converting re-encodes the video, so there's some loss, but at the default settings it's hard to spot. You can also pick a target size or a quality level before converting.
Does it work for long iPhone recordings?
Yes. On Chrome or Edge, files up to about 2 GB are supported. Very large files on other browsers may be declined with a clear message rather than failing silently.
