Trim a video online
Cut the dead air off the start, stop before the awkward ending, or pull one moment out of a long recording. Set the start and end on a preview of your video and download the result as a standard MP4 — at the original quality, or squeezed under a file size at the same time. Everything runs on your own device, so a two-gigabyte file doesn't need a two-gigabyte upload before you can even begin.
How to trim a video
- Drop your video onto the tool above, or browse for it. It opens instantly, however large it is, because it stays on your device.
- Move the Start and End sliders. The preview jumps to each point as you drag, and the line underneath tells you exactly how much you're keeping.
- Choose Quality to keep the picture as it is, or Target size to trim and fit under a limit in one go. Press Trim video and download the MP4.
Frame-accurate cuts, not keyframe guesses
Many quick trimmers cut only at the nearest keyframe — the points a video file is allowed to start playing from, often a second or more apart — so your cut lands somewhere near where you asked. This tool re-encodes the kept range instead, which means the cut is exactly where the slider was, to a tenth of a second, and the output is a clean MP4 that plays everywhere. On modern browsers the encoding uses your device's own video hardware and typically finishes faster than the clip would take to play.
Because the trimmer shares its engine with the compressor, you can do both at once: pick a range, switch to Target size, and the tool works out how much detail fits your seconds into 10, 25 or 50 MB — handy for a Discord clip or an email attachment. Nothing about your file is sent anywhere. There is no server that could receive it; you can watch the browser's network tab stay silent while it works.
